Zach Robinson is a Primetime Emmy Winning and Grammy nominated composer for film and TV. Zach is most known for co-composing the score (alongside friend and collaborator, Leo Birenberg) to the mega-hit Netflix series Cobra Kai and Roku’s film Weird: The Al Yankovic Story for which they were awarded the 2023 Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Music in a Limited Series, TV Movie, or Anthology Series. The duo were also nominated for a 2024 Grammy for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media for their work on Weird: The Al Yankovic Story.

In 2025, Zach and Leo were nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for their season 6 score to Cobra Kai.

After finishing Cobra Kai in 2025, the duo have been busy scoring the critically acclaimed Marvel animated series Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-man, and Peacock’s hit show Twisted Metal, based on the legendary video-game franchise. They are currently in post on The Untitled BriTANick Pizza Movie.

On his own, Zach is currently scoring the new hit CBS series Matlock starring Kathy Bates as well as the smash Netflix docu-series America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders from Greg Whitely, creator and director of Cheer and Last Chance U.

Zach also recently scored Greg Whitely’s previous project, the Netflix docu-series The Clubhouse: A Year with the Boston Redsox and Wrestlers as well as Hulu’s Fright Krewe, a gateway horror animation for kids created by Eli Roth and James Frey.

In addition to the Primetime Emmy Nomination, Zach has been nominated for an ASCAP Composer’s Choice Award and an International Film Music Critics Association Award for his work on Cobra Kai as well as a Hollywood Music in Media Award and a Society of Composers and Lyricists Award for his work on Weird. In 2021, Zach was nominated for an LA Area Emmy Award for his work on KCET’s Artbound: Light and Space.

Zach is also a song producer, having worked with Carrie Underwood on re-recording the Survivor classic, “The Moment of Truth” and with Paul Anka on a re-record of his legendary song “My Way.”

After receiving his degree in music composition from Northwestern University, Zach cut his teeth working with acclaimed film composer, Christophe Beck, writing additional music for films such as Ant-Man, Edge of Tomorrow, Frozen, Hot Pursuit, Sisters, and The Peanuts Movie.

Zach has multiple musical projects in parallel to his composing career. His 1980's inspired electronic music project, D/A/D, is considered one of the most accomplished in the synthwave genre and has received accolades from Pitchfork and NPR. In 2019, Zach released an EP of rockabilly songs under the band name Ventura Dives.

Zach's passion lies in the fantastic. He is a mega-fan of classic B-film horror, space epics, lounge exotica, smokey noir, buddy cop movies, and 1950's/1980's visions of the future. He currently lives in his hometown of Los Angeles, with his wife Natania and their pit-mastiff mix, Gus.
